Hand-painted, stylized textures.
Of course, now people will ask... "but, hand-painted? How else are they going to get painted?" This is outside of my usual stuff, so I'm extremely proud of these. I've found myself moving more in the stylized direction for a long time for personal works (drawing), but the digital painting lately... I dunno, it's like I'm just learning how good candy is for the first time. Shoot me, I'm hooked. Original sizes 2048 x 2048.

remake of online game model.
New goodness for viewing. This is my 'upgraded version' of another person's game model found in League of Legends. Upgraded means I've made a new one after the original's stylized likeness but with more polys, textures, yatta. 25 hours of Maya work, Zbrush, Photoshop, etc. Fun fun.

Dilapidated house wall
SCREENSHOTS!! Working on some stuff. Here is my progress as of 31 hours. Window glass is not yet textured and roofing texture is still basic color and baked normals only and needs finishing along with a spec map. The edge of the wall opening (the crackled paint surface) looks harsh. I'm not too keen on puting tons of more geometry in though to help it. We'll see. I kind of wish it was a game engine so I could blend mats without lots of difficulty. Here's the full screen. Default lighting.

Hair practice
Hair is a tougher one and I've been trying some different doos. I actually grabbed a hair style mag from the store for ref since it has hair shot after hair shot. It seemed ideal, and was to a degree, but the images were small. Another good source to draw from are comic artists because they've worked out the simpler shapes. For hair, yes, but everything else also. This makes my learning curve easier. No matter what the source though I try to observe each little bit as I go, asking my self questions, like about how the other artist handled the bulk and where they thickened the lines and how that affects things, or why the hair flows this way and where the strands go. Many things are more difficult to notice unless you're actually drawing each line. Here are some from the hair style magazine, and a single one from the front of a Victoria's Secret catalog.

Fixed up gestures
Any artist knows that most figure drawing classes will have gesture poses to get the drawing muscles warmed up. Sadly these quick sketches typically go unused because they're so grossly scribbly and meritless on their own. Well I like to go back on occasion to revisit and revive them as a more finished drawing. I'm also tempted to paint 'em as well since they're practice shit anyway, right? I'm currently almost finished painting one and it's been fun. I'll post it soon enough. Here's some sketches in their original 5 minute rough states and more completed states.

First Posty Post. ack!
I'm just trying this baby out so since this is primarily for posting images and works in progress, I think I'll try posting a pic. Simple and straight forward.
Oh noes! Mikey went and did himself a bloggey thing. Call the popo. Okay, nufs of that. Boom. Done. Should be nice and big so people can click it and see details. These are kind of old but it shouldn't matter... *a-whole-decade-ago-cough* Oh, and I might put some 3d up along the way since that seems to be where most of my time goes these days. I just thought it would be cool to have a blog all my own to do with what I want because it's the web and all. Especially WIPs since I usually put finished work on my website for long term storage of... nobody... seeing... it. aww. Too, my site is so much harder to update. Pleh! Making thumbnails, changing the code around, who has time for that?!
